TURN AUTHORS IN SPARE TIIVIE. Indicating' a belief that the pen la mightier than grease-paint, a survey shows five authors among prominent film players working to-day at the Paramount studios. Those who write as well as act arc 'George M. Cohan, Ellssa Landi, Mae "West, ftrouoho Marx, and Charley Grape win. Cohan, starring In “The Phantom President,” wrote ‘‘Twenty Years on Broadway,” besides his- fifty plays. Miss Landi, in "The Sign of the Cross,” now is working on a Irilogy. She lias had published three novels, “Neilson,” "The Ilclmars,” and “House For Sale." Miss West, author of three novels and many plays, spends tier lime away from cameras for “Night After Night” oil two novels and a play for autumn appearance. The llrst to be ready for publication is "Love For Sale.” Crouebo, who wrote “Beds.” a comedy, is working on a history of practical jokes now lhat "Horse Foalliers” is finished. Grnpewin, whose, latest of six books’, “Squawk Bridge." is a current bestseller. is writing another, "The Old' Town Pump.” while acting in "The Night of June HIT
