GOODS TRANSPORT.
LICENSING LEGISLATION. WELLINGTON, Friday. "As the -work of licensing passenger services has been initiated, attention is being given to the position in respect to goods services,” said the Minister of Transport, the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, in a statement issued to-day. "Part 111. of the Transport Licensing Act of 1931 relates to goods services,” said Mr Coates. “The date o.f coming into effect of this part of th/i Act, and the administrative machinery for giving effect to its provisions, were left to Order-in-'Council. Draft regulations have been prepared, but the issue of an Order-in-'Council Lo bring them into force has been deferred for the special purpose of allowing the suggested regulations to receive full consideration by all concerned. "Copies have been circulated and comments and constructive criticism will be welcomed. The due date for the recipt of such comments is November 30. The Government has no desire, however, to unduly hurry the matter, and it is not proposed to issue an Order-in-Council until such time as all who desire to do so have had an opportunity of making their representations, and until valid objections have received full consideration.
“No Order-in-'Council affecting goods traffic regulations will be Issued until the Minister and the Government are satisfied as to the effect upon the interests concerned and upon the public.”
