GARDEN PARTY. The Ladies of the Anglican Guild held a most successful garden party in Mrs Wade’s grounds The following were in charge of the stalls: Work, Mesdames Maud and George Conder; produce, Mesdames Dawson and Downie; afternoon tea, Mrs J. Beebe, Mrs L. Cook, Misses A. Beeby, M. Dawson, D. Davis, A. Cohder; ice cream, M'Sis M. Cook.
Competitions were won by Mrs G. Collins, Mrs Drowse, Mrs McKay and Miss A. Wade, WOMEN'S INSTITUTE. The monthly meeting of the newlyformed branch of the Women’s Institute was held on Thursday, Mrs Hammonds presiding over a good attendance. A tribute was paid to the late Mrs A. J. Wheeler, all present standing In silence. Mr H. Settle was appointed auditor, and Mrs C. Brown, acting secretary for a month, vice Mrs 11. Kneebone, who is absent on sick leave. Mrs Hammonds gave a most interesting demonstration on “'Smocking." A novel competition was won by Mrs T. De Renzy. Songs by Mrs Menzies were much appreciated, Mrs Toogood presiding at the piano. The hostesses were Mesdames Barlow, G. Collins and Geo. Conder. PERSONAL. • Mrs B. Tlsch is on a visit to her mother in New Plymouth. Miss Hay-Chapman, of Huntly, is the guest of Miss B. Kcrnot. Mrs W. Maud is visiting Auckland.
