GOVERNMENT DEFEATED. United I ress Assn. —Elec. Tel. Copyright. (Received Nov. 17, 1.30 p.m.) MELBOURNE, Nov. 17. The Ministry xvas again defeated in the Assembly on an amendment to the Financial Emergency (Bill. The possibility of the Ministry regarding the issue as vital seems remote. The Argyle Ministry xvas thrice defeated in the Assembly yesterday on the Financial Emergency (Mortgages) Bill. The Melbourne Age suggested recently that the defeat of the Government might mean the end of the present National Ministry, in xvhich two Country Party members hold Ministerial posts, namely Messrs Allan and Dunstan. They declared that they xvould support the Cabinet against their own party. The United Australia Party, said the Age, xvould not he powerful enough to form another Government, and it considered an election a foregone conclusion.
