Copyright (Received Nov. 17, 1.30 p.m.) OTTAWA, Nov. 16. “ The Department of Labour estimates that there are 800,000 men, women and children receiving relief at the present time. So Hon. W. A. Cordon told the House of Commons to-day. Of this total it was estimated that l-l-i,OOO had not worked very steadily since 1010, while another 100,000 were what are known as transients,” 50 per cent., of whom are recent arrivals in Canada.
