Gold in London to-day was quoted at £6 5s 8d an ounce compared with £6 4s 3d on Wednesday and £6 5s 41 on Tuesday. The - quotation for gold in London on December 28, 1931, was the highest on record, -namely, £6 8s an oz. 'Pile rise had set in on December 2, when £6 6s 7d was quoted, that being llie record up to then. By December 14 the price had fallen to £5 18s 9d, but on December 19 the quotation was £6 2s 3d. On December 29 there was a drop of 8s from the record price of £6. Then followed slight variations till that figure was again reached on February 22 this year. Lower quotations ruled from that date to October 18 last, when £6 was again quoted. Next day the price was £G 2s 2d, on October 20 £6 Is 10$d, on October 22 £6 Is Hid, and on October 24, £6 2« llid.
