The final acceptance for the Melbourne Cup to be run at Flemlngton next Tuesday was declared to-day. The field numbers 28, including six New Zealand horses and is the best fur many years. ' Coinpris, the winner of the Wellington Cup last January, who was recently sold to Mr. G. L. Lyon, of Colombo, is now left as top-weight. Then come Denis Boy, who won the Caulfield Cup last year, and the Metropolitan at Randwick this month; Heroic s half-brother Cimbrian; Shadow King, who ran sixth in the 1929 Melbourne Cup, third in 1930, and second last year; Middle Watch, winner of the V.R.C. and A.J.C. St. Legers last year; Admiral Drake, who won the Auckland Cup last year, and was only narrowly beaten by Jobnnie Jason in the Sydney Cup; and the New Zealand and Great Northern St. Leger winner, Peter Jaokson.

Other notable acceptors are last year's Melbourne Cup victor, White Nose, from Adelaide; the Caulfield . Cup winner, Rogilla; Induna, a good South Australian horse; Lough Neagh, from Queensland, who performed so prominently at Randwlck; the New Zealander Havering, who ran second in the Moonee Valley Gold Cup last Saturday; Peter Jackson's half-brother, Gaine Carrington, who is New- Zealand’s hope in the V.R.C. Derby; the A.J.C. Derby winner, Peter Pan; and the Auckland gelding Manawhenua, whose owner and trainer, Mr. H. Rama, of Ellerslie, is probably the first Maori to be represented in the race.
