I The New Zealand hockey team played the last match of Its Australian tour to-day against a New Soulh Wales eleven >which was greatly strengthened by three country cracks. The New Zealanders were lucky to escape defeat and to maintain their unbeaten record. Spiers and Moore saved them on many occasions. Turbitt did not play owing to an Injured knee. New South Wales’ defence included Todkill, Australia’s best back, who played a great game. The New Zealand forwards appeared to be stale after their long tour. They lacked their customary combination. Munro was badly cut on the nose but continued to play. The score at half-time was one all. There were brilliant rallies in the second half but neither side'was able to add to its score. The scorers were: For New Zealand, Wellbourne; for New South Wales, Hurrell. i I The New Zealand hockey team played 18 matches on -the Australian tour, of which it won 15 the other three being drawn.
