WEST COAST CHAMPIONSHIP. , THE QUALIFYING ROUNDS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WESTPORT, Wednesday. The West Coast golf championship tournament opened to-day under ideal conditions. Mrs J. R. Mullan headed the ladies’ qualifying list with 86. Mrs Slee, 87.., Miss Ryan, and Mrs Walker, 89, Mesdames Sharpe, Hannan and Cunningham, 90, also qualified. The morning medal match was won by C. Thomas and the afternoon medal match, by 11. Hubbard. The best scores for the morning and afternoon were returned by A. G. Sime, an exNew Zealand champion, with 73 and 69. , .Those to qualify f6r .the men’s championships . were:—Sime, 143; Park, 160; Meldrum and Schadlck, 161; Chisney, 163;- Lockey and Lovell, 165; Smith, 166. The Reefton and Buller ladies’ team tied for the Ladies’ Challenge Shield with 369 each. Buller has now won the Dalgleish Shield, with 630, Westport, 679, being next. •
