CLAY-BIRD SHOOTING.

WAIKATO DEFEATS AUCKLAND. AUCKLAND, Monday. At the Auckland Gun Club’s grounds on Saturday, the first match of live birds drew 41 entries. The following divided the prize-money:— E. Green (Morrlnsville), A. Aitken (Morrinsville), M. Pratt (Otorohanga), H. Earle (Hamilton), C. Seddon (Hamilton), C. E. Hodge, L. F. Ramsey, P. N. Gallle, A. E. Macredie, F. Keene, E. J. Schofield, G. H. Browne and J. Gribble (Auckland). The teams match between the combined Waikato clubs and the three Auckland clubs, 17 men aside, 15 birds, all off 16yds, produced an exciting contest, Waikato winning by two birds. Shortly after the last round started Auckland was eight down, , but managed to pick up six before tho match finished. Individual scores were:—Waikato: C. Seddon, H. Woolven,. W. Webber, E. Green, 15 each; H. Earle, J. Amundsen, 14; M. Pratt, W. Sharp, E. O’Kane. A. Aitken, W. Aitken, 1.7; J. Seymour. W. Woolv6n, 12; W. Tilley, W. O’Kane, 11; W. Gribble, S. Parlour, 10. Total, 219. Auckland: C. E. Hodge, G. 11. Browne, L. F. Ramsey, F. ,T. Hazard, J. Milne, G. F. Keene, A. E. Macredie, 14; E. J. Schofield. ,T. Gribble, D. S. Ewing, 13; P. N. Gallic, R. 11. Bartley, ,T. C. Whitney, L. Peterson, W. 11. Hazard, 12; L. .T. Stent, 11; F. Curtis, 9. Total, 217. The winning team holds the Waikato Rooster and each member received a silver badge, presented by Mr E. .T. Schofield. The badges are to be competed for each match. In addition, both teams subscribed to a trophy, which will he competed for by the members of the winning team. It is hoped to arrange for home and home matches each year. A first-miss-out sweepstake drew 34 competitors, and it was divided on tho 1 Slh round by M. Pratt (20yds), C. Seddon (ISyds), C. E. Hodge (18yds), A. Aitken (12yds) and J. McGregor (11yds). There were 26 shooters in a double-rise match and It. Woolven (11yds) won outright with nine out of ten E. Green (13yds). G. 11. Browne (15yds), L. Peterson 13 yds), A. 11. Aitken (12yds), .1. IteesGcorge (I lyds) and \v. 11. Aitken (11yds). divided sernnd ami third money with eight each. The final gimcrack match of seven birds had 19 entries and was divided by P. N. Gallic stalling on Li yds and finishing on 26ydsi and M. .1. liolich (11yds and 22yds’.
