Koromatua Block. ■lt is expected that work on the •Koromatua block, near Elstow, .will soon be finished, there being only two -miles of fenoing to do. The sections in the block will be offered by the Government for selection within three months. Nearly 300 acres alreadysown down in grass are looking remarkably well. A Presentation. In view of his- marriage, to take place at Mangere next week, Mr R Hltchen was presented with a silver mounted salad bowl by his friends at "Hlnemoa.” The presentation - was made -by Mr J, Lawson, who wished the recipient a. happy and successful future. Croquet Olub. Mrs F. W. Bliss presided at the annual meeting -of the -Croquet ‘Club, .when 32’ members attended. The balance sheet showed a-credit of £39 16s Bd. The election of officers resulted:—Patron, Mr R. -Coulter; president, Mrs W. Monson; vice-presidents, Mes-, dames Goldsbury and Hedge; secretary and treasurer, Mrs F. W. Wild; committee, Mesdames Bliss; Hepburn, Wallace, ;Margison, Petersen and Melkle; auditor, Mr G. E. Christensen; delegates to South Auckland Croquet Association, Mesdames Monson, Me-ilcle ,and Margison. Thames Valley Drainage Board. Mr F. E. Hughes, presided at the June meeting of the Board. A 'letter was read from the chief drainage engineer stating that he considered the -construction of Bancroft’s drain would -have to be postponed until more favourable conditions ruled. The Department would require -some payment before the work commenced. It was -decided that the work could be left until dry weather sets in. The chief drainage engineer notified that he could not agree to the subsidy being lifted on -the cost of supervision, transport, etc., of relief workers In finishing the Elstow work In the Otway settlement, and It was doubtful whether the amount would bo re-voted.
