PUBLICITY RESENTED.
THE ASPERSED RECTOR. COMMENT BY THE PRIMATE. LEGISLATION DESIRABLE. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. (Received June 2, 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, June 1. “ I am conferring with lawyers to see if it is possible to legislate whereby the abuse of publicity can be restrained without Injuring justice,’” said the Primate (Most Rev. Cosmo ■Gordon Lang, D.D.) at the opening of the Canterbury convocation, alluding to the hearing of the case before the
Consistory Court at Norwich against ■Rev. H. Davidson, vicar of Stiffkey, who is charged with improper conduct. His Grace continued: “It raises the issue whether it is necessary in the interest of public morals and justice that such a stream of sordid and unsavoury details should be poured into the public mind. I have received many indignant protests, including one from the Diocesan Council at Perth. It is deplorable. I think the case has been telegraphed to every part of the Dominions."
