The Governor-General and the Lady Bledlsloe attended the community singing at Auckland Town Hall yesterday. There were 3000 people present.
Major R. A. Wilson, of Bulls, is in Hamilton.
Mr Earle Vaile, of Rotorua, is- in Hamilton.
Mr J. T. Bunting, of Southland, is on a visit to Hamilton.
Mr R. M. Meedham, of Timaru, was a visitor to Hamilton yesterday.
Mr A. W. Essex, New Zealand -representative of the Canadian Pacific Railway, is visiting the show.
Messrs R. W. Morgan, >of Christchurch, -and G. W. Spencer, of Auckland, are at the Hamilton Hotel.
The Rev. and Mrs Hay left Cambridge yesterday for Nelson, where Mr Hay has accepted a call to the Presbyterian Church.
At yesterday's meeting of the Auckland Education Board Mr D. H. White was appointed assistant-master at the Te Aroha District High School.
The clerk to the Tuakau Town Board, Mr A. 11. Tapper, has forwarded his resignation to the- chairman. Mr Tapper has been clerk to the board for over seven years.
Mr J. N. McLeod of Christchurch, president of the Horticultural Trades’ Association, and lecturer in horticulture at the Technical College, Christchurch, is attending the Winter Show at Hamilton.
The Rev. Jasper Calder, Anglican “city missioner, returned to Auckland yesterday after visits to Wellington and Christchurch to confer on social service work.
Mr W. H. Lunn, on his retirement from the management of the Auckland branch of the Union Bank of Australia, was presented by customers of the bank with a silver tea service and by members of the staff with a travelling rug-
Following his retirement recently at the end of many years’ service as secretary of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society, Mr C. 1. Dasent was elected a life member of the society by unanimous vote at the annual general meeting.
On the occasion of his retirement from the position of secretary of Messrs R. and W. Ilellaby, Limited, Auckland, a position he lias held rotover 30 years. Mr A. Taylor was the recipient of presentations from members of the staff and the directors of the company.
