LONDON, April 27
The House of Commons, by 29-1 votes to four, refused Mv J. McGovern (Independent Labour member for Shettlestone, Glasgow) leave to introduce a Bill to amend the Parliamentary Oaths Act Amendment Bill. Only the Independent Labourites supported the motion for the introduction of the Bill, which was to make the taking of the Oath optional.

OTTAWA, April 27. The Budget was passed on Wednesday by 108 votes to 72. The Liberal amendment was defeated by 112 to 66 votes.
RAILWAY GUARD KILLED
RUN DOWN BY CAR.
MOTORIST DOES NOT STOP
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) . DUNEDIN, Thursday
A hit-and-run motoring fatality occurred on the Anderson’s Bay Road at midnight, the victim being Mr George Macandrew Frost (52), a railway guard. He was cycling home from work when he was run down by a car, which did not stop, and died on the way to the hospital. The car has been recovered by the police. It is reported to have been stolen from outside the owner’s residence.
