The Free State has increased the duties on British and foreign readymade clothing to 45 and (30 per cent. respectively. . Woollen worsted fabrics are subject to a 20 per cent, duty on British and 30 per cent, on foreign. Tlic Irish press declares that . the Irish woollen industry, though partially crushed by England's tyrannous laws, is still nourishing under the laws ot 11, c 17th. and 18th. centuries. The duties, however, could lie revised, thus reducing unemployment. _ 'l'lie imposition of (he tarill is deplored in Yorkshire, where it is bound to hit a large and profitable trade.
