INQUEST ON A BOY.
CORONER’S CRITICISM. STREET INSUFFICIENTLY LIGHTED (By Telegraph.—Press Association.! WELLINGTON, Wednesday. An inquest was held to-day on Alex ander McDonald, aged eight years, wh was killed hy being knocked down b a motor car while effecting repairs h a trolley in JervOis Quay on the even ing of April 16. The coroner, -Mr McNeil, recallei that in June last year, after havinj heard the opinions of laymen am police, he thought it his duty to direc the attention of the City Corporatloi to the lighting in Jervois Quay, suggesting that it might be improved. H< understood that the matter was considered, but the evidence in the present case showed that the lighting ii still inadequate. He again directec the attention of the authorities to the matter. He also drew attention to the danger of boys using unlighted trolleys on dark bitumen at night. If the boys used trolleys after dark they should see that they were properly lighted, and should not stop in the way of traffic even in the event oi something happening to ’the trolley. He found formally in accordance with the medical evidence that death was caused by deceased being run into by a car driven by John Henry Goldsworthy.
