TOWN BOARD MEET. At the ordinary meeting of the Matamata Town Board Mr J. Buchanan presided. It was decided to support the Whakatane Borough Council in connec- i tion with the National Expenditure Adjustment Bill and the matter is to be brought under the notice of Mr C. 11. Clinkard, M.P. Mr J. Clothier was reappointed to the position of valuation assessor. The Matamata County Council advised that from April 1 it would pay £2 lOs for the services of the local unemployment secretary. The Hamilton Borough Council wrote asking if ihe Board was satislied with the apportionment of heavy •I rail to fees.—Tiie answer was in the afllrmativo. an Increase of £IBOO on the amount spent the previous year. During Ihe year relief schemes under the Unemployment Board had brought in £751 and this had been spent mainly on public works. Rates outstanding, including penalties, amounted to £875, as against £436 in 1931 and £2J4 in 1930.
