THE ANNUAL MEETING. WAITOA TO FRANCIS LINC.OLN. FREE LOGAN WINS MANAWARU. KEWPIE’S GUY’S SURPRISE WIN. (Special to Times.) TE AROHA, Saturday. The annual meeting of the Te Aroha Trotting Club was held to-day in fine weather before a good attendance. The track was in excellent order. Following are the results:— WAITOA HANDICAP. Of £9O; class 3.42; ii miles. 3 FRANCIS LINCOLN, Mr W. K. Francis’ blk g, by Peter Moko — Directive, Gyrs, limit (J. C. Robertson) 1 2 PUKEMIRO, Mr S. A. Cutts’ br g, by Peter Moko—-Miss Dulce, 6yrs, 12yds (F. V. Cutts) 2 4 GUID HAIRST, Mr G. Cressey's fog, by The Triumph—Harvest Home, 3yrs, limit (F. J. Smith) 3 Also started: 14 Balgonle, 7 Jester, 10 Lady Amanda, 5 Lislea, 11 Netherton, 8 Our Franz, 13 Pedlar, 12 Star Pronto, 9 Triquest 6 Smooger, coupled with Trevor limit; 1 Fisher, 12yds. Winner trained by J. G. Robertson, Mangere.

Fisher was most in demand with £135, the next in order of selection being Pukemiro (£132) and Francis Lincoln (£B3). Star Pronto and Jester broke up at the start, while Fisher was slow to move. Good Hairst took charge, being followed along the back hy Lislea, Francis Lincoln and Pukemiro, with Pedlar at the head of the others. Francis Lincoln broke going across the top, Good Hairst being the first Into the straight from Pukemiro, Lislea and Francis Lincoln. Good Hairst looked like winning, but broke a short distance from home and Francis Lincoln finished fast to win by two lengths from Pukemiro, with Good Hairst four lengths further off. Fisher was fourth with Smooger, Our Franz and Star Pronto in that order of the others. Times: 3.32 3-5, 3.32 3-5. 3.36, 3.36 2-5.

An inquiry was held into the handling of Fisher, the explanation of the driver being accepted.

Mattie Herbilwyn commanded major attention, going out with £167 on her prospects, Win Huon (£163) and Summertime (£110) being next in Order of selection.

The majority made mistakes at tho start. Summertime soon hit the front from Manna’s Son, Indolent and Rosalie’s Triumph. Summertime was 100 yards clear along the back, with Indolent, Manna’s Son, Nebraska and Win Huon in that order. Summertime had an advantage of about 15 lengths into the straight and came on to win by five lengths from Win Huon, who defeated Nebraska by three-quarters of a length. Manna’s Son was fourth, followed by Amy Etawah, Indolent and Bingen Beil. Times: 3.43 1-5, 3.4 S 2-5, 3.49 1-5, 3.52.

Pegaway was an even-money favourite carrying £293 from Free Logan (£247) and Worthy Cause (£147). Free Logan took charge, showing the way past the stands to Jester, Pegaway, Worthy Cause and Gumdigger. There was no change along the back and across the top. Free Logan was the pilot into the straight from Jester, Worthy Cause and Pegaway. Jester broke and Free Logan went on to win by a neck from Pcgawav, with Worthy Cause seven lengths further off. Gumdigger was fourth, followed by Jester and Eleawah. Times: 3.30 2-5, 3.29 3-5, 3.33, 3.32 3-5.

at the end of seven furlongs the field was racing bunched, with Our Peter showing the way to Brent Zolock, Arabond, Explosion, Mr Penalty, Anon, Great Parrish, Kewpie’s Guy and Bracken. Brent Zolock had charge across the top from Anon, Arabond, Our Peter, Mr Penalty, Bracken, Explosion, and Kewpie’s Guy. Arabond was the first into the straight from Explosion, Our Peter, Mr Penalty, Bracken and Kewpie's Guy. A great finish saw Kewpie’s Guy get the verdict by half a head from Mr Penalty, with Arabond a head further away. Bracken was a head further off, followed by First Flight, Explosion and Kewpie’s Triumph. Times: 4.35, 4.39 1-5, 4.37 2-5, 4.33 3-5. HOT SPRINGS HANDICAP (Saddle). Cogent had charge along the back from Great Vanity, Native Berry, Free Logan and Bonny Drift. There was no change across the top, Cogent showing the way into the straight to Great Vanity. Free Logan, and Native Berry. Nothing had a chance with Free Logan, who scored by two lengths from Native Berry, who beat Cogent by a similar margin. Bonny Drift was fourth, followed by Astral and Marosa. Times: 2.17, 2.18, 2.19, 2.17 1-5. WAIIIOU HANDICAP, Of £110; class 3.45; 1A miles. (Unhoppled trotting horses only). 6 MOKO BELLS, Mr J. T. El Merit (£282) was favourite, the next in order of selection being Hardy Grattan (£210) and Zanzibar (£185). Moko Bells was sixth fancy at a doublefigure return with £57 10s. Nebraska led past the stands from Moko Bells, Hardy Grattan, Zanzibar, Amy Etawah and El Merit, the lastnamed going to a break. Along the back Moko Bells, Zanzibar, Huon Grattan and Amy Etawah were racing as named. Zanzibar showed the way into the straight, to be challenged by Moko Bells, who got the verdict by a neck from Zanzibar. Hardy Grattan was ten lengths further off. Amy Etawah was' fourth, with Nebraska and El Merit next. Times: 3.37 1-5, 3.34 2-5, 3.43, 3.46 3-5.
