A conversation was held on January 8 between the . Foreign Secretary, Sir John Simon, and the Japanese Ambassador,'Mr T. Matsudalra, In regard to the situation In Manchuria. Yesterday the Ambassador called at the Foreign Office and conveyed from his, Government express assurances in reference to Japan’s disclaimer of territorial ambitions, in-Manchuria and of her intention to respect the principles of the open door and the Nine-Power Treaty.
