STATE OF THE FINANCES.

The Waikato Hospital Board, held its monthly meeting to-day, the chairman, Mr J. J. IVyburn, presiding. The Rotorua County Council submitted particulars of the agreement between the Wair.oa Hospital Board and the native residents of the Watroa district and suggested that a similar scheme might l prove successful in the Waikato district. The scheme, briefly, provided for a medical association, the natives paying subscriptions. •' The secretary (Mr E. G. Johnson) reported that lie hud replied to tine County Council asking if it was possible to enlist the interest of natives in the Rotbrua and Taupo districts with the view to forming a medical association; also if a representative 'meeting-could be held to? discuss the matter at the end of February.—The secretary’s action was endorsed. Rotorua District Nurse. The Department -of Health wrote asking if the board would contribute towards the expenses of district nursing work in the Rotorua district. Members agreed that there was scope for assistance in isolated portions, of the Rotorua and Taupo districts and the matter was deferred until next meeting for further inquiries. Financial Statement. A statement showed that the actual maintenance of the board from April 1 to December (II exceeded the estimated receipts by £3184 13s 4d. The estimate w-as £54,023 Is Gd and file '.actual receipts, £57,207 14s lOd. The total estimated maintenance receipts for the financial year ending March 31 next are £71,491 11s Gd. Actual maintenance payments for the period have exceeded estimated payments by £1968 13s lid, the estimate being £55,239 Os lid and th«i actual payments, £57,207 14s lOd. The total estimated maintenance payments for the financial year are £71,491 11s Gd. A further statement showing capital receipts from April 1 to December 31, was presented as follows: Estimated receipts, £2728; actual receipts, £2345; total estimated receipts for financial year, £3493. Estimated capital payments, £2634; actual cap-' ital payments, £2345; total estimated capital .payments for the financial year, £3493. A financial statement of the Arapuni Medical Association for April 1 to December 31, showed a debit balance of £833. Payments totalled £1736 and receipts consisted of subscriptions £9Ol, and outpatient’s fees (17s 6d).
