The match between the South African cricketers and a combined Victorian country team was concluded today. The visitors made 418 runs for eight wickets in their first innings and declared. The chief scorers were: Curnow, 158: McMillan, 52; Steyn, 55 not out; Van der Merwe, 23 not out. The home side, who had been dismissed in their first innings for 88, scored 246 in their second. Christy took three wickets for 12 runs. The South Africans won by an innings and 84 runs. 4 The South African cricketers will commence tiie third test match against Australia at Melbourne on Thursday. COUNTRY WEEK AT AUCKLAND. AUCKLAND, Tuesday. The Auckland Cricket Association’s country week tournament was continued yesterday. The Auckland team had no' difficulty in defeating Rodney by six wickets and 154 runs. ' Auckland Colts did badly against the Pukekohn team and lost by 105 runs on the first innings. In its secmid innings the young local team shaped even more disappointingly and eight wickets were captured for only 16 runs.
