STOCK SALE.

AT FRANKTON YARDS. PIG PRICES IMPROVED. AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS. At the weekly stock sale at the Frankton yards yesterday both ox and cow beef was a little easier. Quotalions for sheep were much the same as the previous week, spring lambs realising 27s Cd. Pig values showed an improvement, on previous sales. There was a heavy yarding of cattle, a full yarding of sheep and a good yarding of pigs. The following table shows the comparison between this and last week’s rates. •This week. Last week.

Farmers’ Auctioneering Company. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Ltd., report: At Frankton sale we had a full yarding of fat and store sheep. Prices for fat sheep remained unchanged, but in some cases of good quality mutton showed a slight increase. Store sheep sold at late rates. There was a good yarding of fat cows, with a slightly smaller entry of ox beef, which was in good demand and sold at slightly increased prices. Cow and heifer beef also met with good competition and was firm at recent quotations. Three prime fat heifers sold on account of Mr T. M. Hall averaged £9 13s each, and were purchased by a Huntly butcher, Mr R. Nash. There was a medium yarding of dairy cattle, good quality heifers close to profit being scugiit after. Pigs came forward In large numbers, and heavy baconers sold under good competition at slightly Increased rates. There was an over-supply of store pigs with a considerable drop in prices. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Hamilton, reon their weekly stock sale held at Frankton yards yesterday as follows : Cal tie.—A medium entry of fat bullocks and a fairly heavy yarding of fat cows met with a keen demand. \ marked increase on late rates was realised for all fat cattle. Prime fat cows met with the best market. Late rates were again maintained for an average yarding of store cows. Tlie offering of dairy callle was only an average one, and values recoded slightly on recent quotations. Sheep.—The yarding of fat sheep consisted mostly of fat wethers, while fat ewes and hoggets yere yarded in average numbers. Values 'increased appreciably for all classes. Baeoners met with a keen demand and prices increased appreciably, porkers remaining on a par with late rates. Owing to the heavy supply of stores values decreased slightly. Store Cattle.—-There was a large yarding of all classes, and a good sale resulted. We sold a pen of 3-year Hereford steers at £-1 ss; 3 to 4-year Shorthorn steers, off turnips, at £5 (Is; 2-year-old Shorthorn -steers made £2 to £2 9s; yearling heifers sold under keen competition. We sold 14 Jersey yearling heifers (some marked) at £ i 11s; also 14 ditto at £4 Is; other yearling Jersey heifers, £2 10s to £3 Is; bulls, 25s to £3 10s; store cows up to £2 10s; empty 2-year heifers and -cows, 255. Pigs.—An extra large yarding of all classes of pigs came forward, and prime baconers sold up to £3 Bs. We soild a line of medium baconers, the 22 averaging £3 Is Od.
