LOTUS LAND.
NO DEPRESSION THERE. WORK TEN DAYS A YEAR. Mr Arthur J. Yogan, author and traveller, who returned to Sydney last week by ‘the Mata ram, said he had found a spot far removed from the prevailing depression—the Atrobriand Islands, 180 miles from Samaral (Papua). | Ten days’ work sufficed to keep the ' population in yams and other food for a year. Beyond that the natives had no cares. Mr Yogan was collecting information regarding prehistoric sun worshippers who, lie said, had crossed from Asia. He also obtained specimens for museums, including a bat with coloured wings like a moth. He purchased a rock python 15 feet -long, which he intends to present to Tar- 1 onga Park. This proved an Ideal passenger on -the steamer, requiring no food.
