ARBITRATION COURT,
BAKERS AND PASTRYCOOKS. DOAIINION AWARD SOUGHT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The Bakers and Pastrycooks’ Dominion dispute is engaging the attention of the Arbitration Court today. The workers are asking for new conditions as to hours, time of starting, and increased wages. One of the chief points in the dispute is the time of starting. The masters want to start at the time which best suits the particular business and Ihe workers definitely state 4 a.m. The- masters claim that the bulk of their output goes to the shops for retail sale over the counter, and deliveries must be early. Ilome-madc bakeries are objecting to being brought under the same award as that covering big machine bakeries. The masters argue that the price of bread is being kept up by the award provisions, and the full effect of the improvement, of plant, machinery and methods by the employers could not bo gained, the public thereby suffering in the price of bread.
