CHURCH SERVICES.

ST. ANDREW’S HAMILTON. The services in St. Andrew’s Church, Hamilton, were of a special nature. In the morning reference was made to the “ Coming of Age ” of the Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union, the preacher (Rev. H. G. Gilbert) referring to the great work this organisation had accomplished in assisting home and foreign missions. He expressed the hope that the success of the past would be an incentive for the future, and that even greater things would be 'attempted and achieved. The call from the mission fields for workers and funds was never more urgent than now, and the Church was faced with a groat opportunity which it must avail itself of, though it may moan hardship and sacrifice. In Hie evening there was a Young Peoples’ demonstration, members of the Bible Classes being to the fore. They acted as sidesmen, provided Ihe organist, the choir, and even the bellringer. The proceedings throughout were bright and hearty, and the service was greatly enjoyed by the crowded congregation. Two members of the Young Men's Class i Messrs. W. Moore and Lowden read the lessons. Bov. 11. G. Gilbert preached an appropriate sermon on the need for practical religion. Miss B. Finlay presided at the organ most efficiently, giving halt-an-hour’s recital as a prelude Io the service, and at the conclusion Mr Dawson Tirihl contributed a bolu in a most pleasing manner.
