“Tho Nauchty Wife” at Palmerston. “The Naughty Wife,” a “straight” comedy, was staged for three nights this week by the Palmerston North Operatic and Dramatic Society. Mcßae Thomspon Mr W. Fitzherbert Bishop Kennelly .... Mr N. Forbes Mr Fred Cousins was producer. “The Greek Slave” at Auckland. The Auckland Operatic Society will produce "The Greek Slave” in October. Mr Theodore Trezise will be producer. Technical Girls’ Play. Delightful scenes, tuneful music, dainty ballets, and beautiful frocks are features of "The Whispering Wood,” the three-act operetta to be presented in Hie Theatre Royal on Wednesday and Thursday by the girls of tlie Hamilton Technical High School. Interwoven in the singing and dancing a pretty story tells of the adventures of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in the forest. There arc 22 principals
and over one hundred girls in the choruses and ballets. The operetta is being produced by Miss I. Duff, who is also musical director. Half the proceeds of “The Whispering Wood” arc to lie handed to the Welfare League for the relief of distress, and the remaining funds will be devoted to school improvements. Mavis Lauronson’s Recital. If the work at rehearsals is any criterion Miss Mavis Laurenson’s recital, the "Big Time Revue,” is assured of an enthusiastic reception when it is presented in the Theatre Royal on September 21. Over fifty performers are included in the company, and a particularly attractive programme has been arranged. Colourful ballets and ensembles are features of the “Big Time Revue,” which will include all the latest hits. “A Country Girl” at New Plymouth, j The New Plymouth Operatic Society is busily rehearsing “A Country Girl.” Mr Theo. Trezise is produce-. The season will commence on September 21. Reading at Cambridge. “I’ll Leave It To Y’ou,” by Noel Coward, was read by 'members of the Cambridge Literary and Debating Society this week. The performers were Mrs Wooldridge, Misses Brann, Hunter, Neely, Dunne, N. Banks, Messrs T. Mora th, A. G. Boyce, F. R. Wooldridge, and Ralph Wallis.
