UNWISE SPECULATION

A BANKRUPT SETTLER. MEETING ADJOURNED. The reason given for the failure of William John Worthington, a settler, of Glen Massey, at a meeting called by his creditors before the Official Assignee (Mr V. R. Crowhurst) this morning, was speculation in native town sections at Otorohanga and loss of regular employment in 1920. Since then "he had been only spasmodically employed, his earnings scarcely coxering living expenses. There was £350 owing to secured creditors, the estimated surplus from securities amounting to £195 10s id. There being no proved creditors present, the meeting was adjourned sine die.
