Letters protesting aginst the charges decided upon for admission to grounds and stands' for matches with the Australian Rugby team were received at this evening’s meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union. Finally the original charges, 2s to ground, 3s Gd to stand, and schoolchildren at half-price, were reaffirmed. Charges for the North Island v. South Island match, to be played at Wellington on August 15, were fixed at Is Gd ground; 2s Gd stand; schoolchildren half-price. “On present indications we will be able to send you a very good side, as a great many more of our most prominent players are available for the trip than we anticipated would be possible under the present economic conditions,” read an extract from a letter from the New South Wales Rugby Union. The Australian team, the letter stated, would be chosen on the evening of August 3, on which date a trial match was being held, Advice was reoeived that Mr T. C. Davis had been appointed manager of the team. Mr Davis ,was president of the Western Suburbs Club. COLLEGE MATOH. WELLINGTON BEATS ST. PATRICK’S (By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
