PASTURE IMPROVEMENT.
EXPERIMENTS AT RUAKURA. FARM SCHOOL FULL. The special pasture experiments being carried out at the Huakura Slate Farm, under the direction of Mr A. Hudson, of tho Plant Research Station, are progressing well and arc providing some useful information, Dr. C. J. Henkes, Director of Agriculture, told a Times representative, yesterday. One point that had been specially noted was that superphosphate applied in June appeared to give the best economic return compared with applications at other periods of the year, its effect being apparent right through I lie. spring into the summer
The farm training school at Ruakura is full to capacity, -is students being in residence. The boys are all of excellent type and il was particularly gratifying to note, said Dr. Realms, the very keen interest which they took in their work.
At the present lime the Ruakura Stale Farm is carrying -illi cattle of all ages, 2000 sheep and 103 pigs on a total pasturage of SOO acres.
