PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
REPORT ON EVANGELISM. THANKS TO BROADCASTING CO. (By Telegraph.—'Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. The General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church to-day agreed that a special committee be set up to consider the question of evangelism in the church and the employment of a special evangelist and report to a later sitting of the Assembly. On the motion of Rev. Howie, thanks were expressed to the Radio Broadoastlng Company of New Zealand for the relaying of services. “ Certain changes In the administration of the broadoastlng service are rumoured,” said Mr Howie, "and it Is to be hoped that such privileges as we have received will not be lost in any changes that may be made." A strong plea for a deeper reverence of such sacred days as Easter was made by Rev. Bertram and Dr. Merrington. A motion recommending that the churches throughout the Dominion make every effort to celebrate the day by special services was carried. A confession of faith in regard to the ordination of elders was brought up and discussed, and it was agreed that the whole matter be discussed, Including the ordination of ministers, when a statement of faith came up at a later stage. SOUTH AUCKLAND PRESBYTERY*. The Assembly agreed to the creation of a South Auckland presbytery. The first sitting is to he held at Papalcura on June 16.
