Play worked again, to mid-field, and for the next few minutes was confined mainly to the forwards. The backs of both sides were finding the ball too slippery to handle effectively. Dwen, Tauplri’s winger, made a strong solo run down the line, but there was no one to pursue his cross-kick. So far Hamilton had had the territorial advantage, but Taupiri were pressing hard at times. Hamilton drew first blood when J. Muir received the ball at half way, and after a neat cut-in evaded several Taupiri tacklers and scored near the corner flag. Perry failed with the kick. i Hamilton 3 Taupiri .. . 0 A few minutes later Muir again figured in a tricky run before passing to Paget, who went over for a good try. - Hamilton 6 Taupiri 0 Tight work among the forwards continued, the ball being too heavy for combined work among the backs. Hamilton forwards took the hail out of the danger zone and cleared to half way. Half time came without alteration in the score. The Seoond Spell. On resuming the Taupiri forwards pulled their weight and carried the bail down to Hamilton’s goal-line. Over-eagerness on Tauplri’s part resulted in the ball being kicked into the dead-ball area. the visitors pressed again, but Perry, the home full back, cleared exceptionally well. Taupiri continued to attack and hemmed Hamilton on their goal-line, but a forward pass saved Hamilton when a'try seemed certain, From the scrum Taupiri received and G.
