AUCKLAND, Saturday. “ They are dangerous men and we fiave information that they were going to “ welsh ’’ and clear off back to Aus- ' tralia," said Detective-Sergeant Kelly when Clifford Spencer Dahlia (36), ' with many aliases, and Reginald . Clarence Williams appeared at the Police Court charged with using premises ns a common gaming house. The detective added it was apparent the men were out to take down the public. Both had criminal records in Australia. The magistrate (Mr Hunt) fined each £75 or three months’ imprisonment. Accused both denied that they intended “ welshing ” and the magistrate admitted that there was no directevidence of that. He allowed them till Tuesday to pay the lines.
