There is a sharp division of opinion among co-operative and proprietary butter factories regarding o.i.f. and f.o.b. methods of selling compared with the consignment me-< thods, and the question had been exhaustively debated at the conference of butter manufacturers, without anything like unanimity being reached. Mr Parker Maloney, Minister of Markets, upon' his return from abroad, expressed the opinion that c.i.f. and f.o.b. selling were detrimental to the interests of producers, and led to unfair manipulation, under-selling, and market depressions. The outcome is that Mr J. King, of the London selling agency, has been summoned to Australia, and will attend a meeting of the Control. Board on June 9, when his views upon the respective merits of the systems wili he available.
