INTOXICATED MOTORIST.

REPORTED HIMSELF TO POLICE. FINED AND LICENSE CANCELLED. (Special to Times.) HUNTLY, Friday. John William Robinson, married, with two children, was charged at the Huntly police Court this morning with being intoxicated while in charge of a motor lorry. Accused pleaded guilty. From the' statement of Constable Leslie, who prosecuted on behalf of the police, accused crashed into one of the Electric Power Board’s poles, smashing it off five feet from Ihe ground. Robinson reported the matter lo the police, but as ho was not in a normal stale Constable Leslie had him examined by Dr. Mac Diarmid. The accused admitted that owing lo the wet weather work was suspended at 2 p.m. on. the day of the occurrence and lie admitted having had five “ handles ” of beer. Mr F. 11. Levien remarked lliat it was unusual for a man in his stale lo report an accident, and he lined accused £5 and cancelled bis license for 12 months.
