LEMON HONEY CAKES

Ingredients: 2oz. butter, Jib. honey, i tablespoon sugar, I egg, juice and rind of I lemon, Alb. Hour, 1 small teaspoon of carbonate of soda. Cream together butter, egg, sugar, lemon juice and grated rind. Silt in flour, heat to smooth consistency. Half-fill greased patty tins. Place in sharp heat, reducing to moderate. About 12 minutes to bake. BEAUTY HINTS. CC Hair which becomes greasy a few days after washing requires a tonic. One which is especially intended to eliminate oiliness is applied to the scalp with a toothbrush immediately after the shampoo. Brush the lather well in all over the head for several minutes. Remove the excess with the hands and then rub quite dry with a warm towel. Finish by brushing briskly with a clean, firm hairbrush. The use of this tonic should facilitate the setting of the hair. The eyes need added attention during the darkest time of the year, when they do most of their work by artificial light. Every evening take two pads of cotton wool, wrung out of hot water in which a pinch of boracic powder has been dissolved. Place these over the eyes, renewing twice. Then film the eyelids with a new cream which lias been blended to keep the lids smooth and youthful. Leave on as long as possible. If the eyes are unusually tired, warm a herbal pack and place it over the lids for a few minutes.
