SCHOOL PICNIC. The Te Ulcu school picnic was held In Mr J. H. Dent’s paddock. There was a record gathering. The weather was ideal. Great credit is due to Miss Ross (the teacher) and the members of the school committee for the way in which the children were entertained. Lumsden 1, Jean Lumsden 2, C. Peart 3; 20th race (girls’ consolation race), L. Nobes 1, G. Stock 2, S. Stock 3; ,21st race (boys’ consolation race), Connely Robinson 1, Stanley Warren 2, Douglas Warren 3. Farming. Harveting is almost finished in the district and feed is plentiful for this time of the year. A record number of fat lambs has gone from the district. Over 7000 sheep and lambs have been carted over the deviation by lorry.
