atamata executive meeting. JUDGES APPOINTED. Mr W. S. Wilson presided over a well-attended meeting of the executive ; of the Matamata X. and P. Association j on Monday evening. I Mr C. G. Payze, on behalf of those j present, welcomed Mr Wilson back co ; New Zealand, and a vote of appreciation was passed to the former for acting as chairman during the term of Mr Wilson’s absence. In connection with sideshows it was decided to enforce the regulation drawn up by the North Island Conference of A. and P. Associations and all showmen will be called upon to produce their licenses. The tender of Mr N. L. Higgins for the booth was accepted. All stock will be expected to carry their numbers with, the duplicates on the pens. The Herd Testing Association under the supervision of Mr Frank Knight J propose to conduct a novel guessing competition. Five cows have been selected from local herds and branded. These will he penned on,, the day of the show an.d those present will he asked to guess the weight of butterfat produced by each cow in the first 200 days since calving. Prizes have been provided by Messrs King and Jack and Bond’s Book Company (Hamilton), Clover -and Mateer and J. Clothier (Matamata). It is anticipated that the farmers will take a keen interest in the competition and the funds collected will go to the earthquake relief. Judges for the show were appointed as follows: —Cookery, Mr J. A. Hepburn (Te Aroha) ; flowers and fruit, Mr H. Powell (Te Aroha) ; field produce and vegetables, Mr J. Bateson (Hamilton) ; honey, bacon and dressed poultry, Mrs H. S. Wright (Taihoa) ; dairy produce (eggs, preserves, pickles, etc), Mrs W. J. Aitken (Kereone); needlework, Mrs F. Payze (Cambridge) ; school sections, Mesdames W. A. Gordon and A. C. Hampton (Matamata) ; Calf Club records, Mr J. F. Wells (Matamata) ; thoroughbreds, hacks and hunters, Mr S. Darragh (Tauranga) ; juvenile classes, riding and driving, Mr R. A. Bent (Putaruru) ; draught horses, Mr L. Siram (Whakatane) ; Friesians, Mr G. B. Watt (Cambridge) ; Ayrshires, Mr J. A. Watt (Cambridge) ; Shorthorns, Mr J. M, Baxter (Hamilton) ; Jerseys (pedigree), Mr E. D. MacLennan (Otahuhu),; Jerseys (grade) and cottage cow, Mr A. E. Missen (Hamilton) ; fat cattle, Calf Club, exhibits dogs, pigs and sheep, Mr J. C. Potts (Cambridge) ; Pomeranian dogs, Mr W. McNab (Te Poi). The secretary reported that at tho date of closing entries showed an increase of 100 over last year and there were still quite a number to come in. Cattle and school sections were well ahead of last yeai, and in homo industries the entries would he about the same. Sheep showed a small increase and horses were down slightly.
