TE AROHA JOCKEY CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING EVENTS. For the annual race meeting on February 28 and March 14he Te Aroha Jockey Club will give £3900 in stake money. The Herries Memorial Cup Handicap will be worth £550, the President’s Handicap, £350 and the Champion Hack Cup Handicap, £350, Including a trophy donated by Mr A. Coubrough, of Cambridge. The prize money for any event is not lower than £l5O, the club having decided to treat owners as liberally as possible, thus showing faith in the future. The meeting this year will be on the club’s new course, which including the purchase of ten acres of land for £990, meant an expenditure of £SOOO. The racing public will doubtless appreciate the splendid view obtainable of the contests, the back stretch of the 100 feet wide course being three feet higher than the previous track and twelve chains nearer to the grand stand, enclosures. ( The club's committee intends to leave nothing undone that will conduce to the success of the gathering, and in this will have the full assistance of the secretary, Mr 11. C. Cotton. Nominations for all events close with the secretary at Te Aroha or Messrs Blomfield and Co., Auckland, on Wednesday, February 11 at 5 p.m.
