WORKERS' REPRESENTATIVE.
MINISTER RESENTS IMPUTATION
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN,- Friday.
In reply to a letter from the Otago District Council of the Alliance of Labour in reference to the protest against the Minister’s determination to select the! workers’ representative on the Unemployment Board, the Minister of Labour, Hon. S. G. Smith, wrote: “ In view of the tone of the letter and the unfair imputations it contains against the Government and myself I do not propose to take any action other than to advise you that the communication reached me by mail arriving on the Ist iiist.” Commenting on the reply, Mr J. Robinson, secretary to the District Council, said the Government was staging a sham, and doubtless the Minister felt peeved that his intention lo have the party whip represent the workers was clearly discerned. The Labour Party could not be blamed for doubting the Minister’s sincerity if he thought he should select his opponents’ representatives.
