DEATH OF A DAUGHTER. SEQUEL TO A ROAD COLLISION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. As a sequel/to a smash on the Ricc&rton. Road on August 2, when a car driven by Edgar Clement Mann, ran into a bicycle and killed the rider, Elizabeth Irvine, the parents of the young woman claimed £ISOO damages in the Supreme Court before His Honour the Chief Justice (Sir M. Myers) and a jury of 12. The plaintiffs were Joseph Irvine, of Christchurch, a retired bootmaker, and his wife, Sarah Ann Irvine. Mr. Thomas, who appeared for Mann, a farmer, of Templeton, admitted liability. The jury were asked to fix the amount of damages. Mann had. paid £250 into Court as compensation and the jury awarded £SOO.
