OBITUARY.

REV. DAVID HIRD. AUCKLAND, Friday. The death occurred at a private hospital in Auckland of the Rev. David Ilird, M.A., of Opotiki, at the age of 59 years. Mr Ilird came from England as a Congregational minister about 25 years ago. Subsequently he entered the Presbyterian Churcij, removing first to Rotorua and, then to Opotiki, where he had been stationed for the last ten years. MR ROLAND H. PCPE. WELLINGTON, Thursday. The death has occurred of Mr Roland H. Pope, at the age of 63. He joined the Education Department in 1883, and retired owing to ill-health, in 1916, when he was officer in charge of the special schools branch. Later he became secretary of the Wellington Stock Exchange, and retired a year or two ago.
