WEDDING,

JOHNS—HIEATT. The Salvation Army Hall, Te Aroha, was the scene of a very pretty wedding on Tuesday on the occasion of the marriage of Ida Loloma, eldest daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Hieatt, Hauraki Plains, to Trevor Newell, fourth son of Mr and Mrs J. D. Jbhns, of Te Aroha, the marriage ceremony being performed by Adjutant Thompson,- in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends, under the banner of the Salvation Army, with white streamers and garlands of lycopodium woven in alcove formation and supporting a large wedding-bell. The bride wore an Army uniform, and carried a beautiful bouquet of white roses, lily of the valley, and asparagus and maidenhair fern. She was attended by her sister, Miss Gladys Hieatt, as bridesmaid, who carried a bouquet of pink roses and asparagus fern. Little Lillian Hanlen acted as flower girl, her bouquet being of pink roses, while Mr F. Smith filled the position of best man. After the ceremony an adjournment was made to the Parish Hall. Adjutant Thompson called on the bride to cut the cake, at the same time wishing them both the best of luck and happiness. A large number of the best man. In extending his best wishes to Mr and Mrs Johns, Mr J. Kennington said that he had known both for many years and knew them to be enthusiastic members of the corps. - 'Claiming that he was probably the oldest person present, Mr W. H. Hieatt, senr., observed that he had 47 grandchildren and 30 great-grand-children (applause). He also extended his congratulations. . Messrs Yarrall, C. W. Pierson, J. D. Johns, G. Manson and Mrs Kennington also spoke. Expressing his appreciation for all the good wishes voiced on behalf of his bride and himself, the groom thanked all their kind friends for the genefous beakfast tendered them. They were both deeply grateful for all that had heen done for them and for the good wishes extended for their future well-being. Mr and Mrs Johns, who were the recipients of many beautiful, useful and valuable presents, departed on their honeymoon the same evening, and when returning will make their iiome in Te Aroha. ’
