THE DOUBLE CHIN.

HOW TO “IRON IT OUT.” A PARISIAN SECRET. If you have a double chin that defies treatment of every kind, you cannot do better than try the “ironing” method. It costs next to nothing, but it yields excellent results. You will need a quantity of old. flannel—the older and thinner the better -—a layer, of cotton-wool, and some soft old linen. Cream the face well, lay the linen over the skin, then put on the cotton wool, and lastly, the flannel. Have the iron merely soothing in its warmth and press it gently upon the layers of cloth, ironing the face upwards. While the ironing of the chin is taking place, lie back comfortably with the head on cushions or pillows, and the chin point well upward. Move the iron slowly and smoothly from the point of the chin to the top of the' cheek bone. The merest pressure on the iron is sufficient, and this pressure must always be on the up-stroke—-never on the downward movement. In a short time the skin will begin to feel warm, then moist, then actually perspiring. As the moisture is absorbed by the cotton-wool continue with the ironing until it reaches the top flannel. Wait at least ten minutes for the skin to cool; wash in fairly hot water; dry lightly on a soft’ towel and apply a little cold cream. Do not be too enthusiastic and apply the treatment more than once every three days. After about three months the chin should be quite normal and the skin close-grained and velvety.
