UNEMPLOYMENT BOARD.
■ —cpFARMERS’ UNION DECISION. REFUSE TO MAKE NOMINATION. NO GOOD PURPOSE SERVED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Wednesday. The Auckland Farmers’ Union executive, at a special meeting to-day, refused to nominate anyone as a member of the Unemployment Board. The opiqion was expressed that no good purpose would he served by a nomination, as the Union protested against regarding unemployment as permanent, also against setting up an organsiation to create and administer a permanent ,£und of £'1,000,000 • by additional taxation. Money for relief should be obtained from the Consolidated Fund, and if extra taxation was necessary then by tax on luxuries. All relief work should be contract or piecework, at a rate less than the standard wage, with a distinction between married and single men.
