Garden Party. Mrs B. A. Sowman gave a garden party in aid of the Plunket Society. The weather was all that could be desired and a most enjoyable afternoon was spent. Over forty were present to help in the good cause. •,v Mr.Madill and Miss M. Booth'won the 'croquet competitions and Mrs Richmond he guessing competition. Numerous other games and competitions helped to make the afternoon pass pleasantly. Among those present were Mesdamds Geddes, Brown, Tapper, Parks, Catley, Bellingham, Horwood, Johnston, Buss, Button, Smith, G. Clarke, S. Clarke, Adgers, Baucke, J. 11. Wilson, G. Powell, sen., W. Moore, Lovell, Troup, Carbuis, Cooper, Sinclair, Alexander, McKercher, Hewitt. E. R. Hunter, McDowell, Madill, Richmond, J. Mathers, Riddell, J. Bell, R. Bell, P. M. Gray, Newall, Sing, Rurman, Stanley, Sowerby; Misses R. and P. Charies, N. Wilson, Riddell, Bell, N. Booth, J. Sowman, I, Horwood. Successful Dance, The South Auckland Rugby Football League held its annual dance at Taupiri. Fine weather, a moonlight night and a free bus from Hamilton helped to fill the hall. The Hu) Orchestra took char-ge of the music and gave of its best. The floor was in good order and the hall tastefully decorated.

• The evening went with x a happy swing, helped along no doubt by the genial and popular secretary, Mr A. H, (Herb.)' Waring, and his small army of lady helpers, ■ During the evening the president, Mr R. T. Hill, gave a brief resume of the past season's sport and presented the cups to the winners of the various competitions: The senior cup to Ngaruawahia, junior shield to Maori team, senior knockout to Huntly and junior knockout to Ngaruawahia. Messrs J. Menzies (Ngaruawahia), R. Attrees (Huntly) and B. Littleton (Ngaruawahia), received the trophies and suitably replied.
