MAILS BY AIR.

LINKING UP THE CENTRES. ACTION BY GOVERNMENT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Tuesday. 1 Action to be taken by Cabinet this week is- expected to ensure the establishment of aerial mail services between’iAuckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. The Postmaster-General, Hon. J. B. Donald, said to-day that the Government hoped before the end of this week to call for tenders for aerial mail carriage. The Government is not prepared to grant a straightout subsidy, but is willing to allow the contracting firm to have the receipts from the air stamps, less a percentage to cover the cost of transporting mails from the airports to the post offices. Mr Donald added that it is hoped to have the' service in operation before Easter.
