WAIKATO BAND

ENTERS FOR CONTEST. At a special meeting of the Waikato Regimental and Municipal Band- it was decided to enter for the contest to be held in Wellington next February. In taking this step it was recognised that it would be difficult to raise sufficient money—approximately £lso—to pay the expenses, but other bands are .in the same position, and the opinion was expressed that If bands could attend from as far aw ; ay as Dunedin and. the West Coast, Hamilton should be able to finance its band to the contest, so that the members could have an opportunity of hearing the best bands. It was decided to ask the Mayor to call a public meeting and endeavour to get the citizens behind them with moral and financial support.
