CRICKETER INJURED.

STRUCK BY BALL. AUCKLAND, Monday. Severe facial injuries which necessitated the removal of an eye were received by Mr Ralph Burton, aged 34, of Mount Roskill, while playing cricket for the Ellerslie senior team against Green Lane at the Domain on Saturday. Mr Burton was fielding close to the batsman, when he was struck by the hall between the left eye and the nose. The nose was broken and a deep cut over the eye was inflicted. The Injured man was removed to the Auckland Hospital, where it was found necessary to remove the eye. He is making satisfactory progress.
