“SPEED COPS.”

CORPS IN BRITAIN. PRECAUTIONS AGAINST SPEEDING. CHECK ON DANGEROUS MOTORISTS. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. (Received Nov. 3, 2.5 p.m.) LONDON, Nov. 2. The “ Speed Cops ” of America, which, have been made familiar by cinematograph films, are about.to become a reality in England. A special-uniformed corps consisting of 100 officers and men is at present being formed to deal with the offences which are expected to arise from the new motoring laws. They will be mounted on motor-cycles, capable of the highest speed. One of the most common offences expected as the result of the liberty given to motorists by the abolition of the limit is speeding. The new law does not regard speed itself as dangerous, but the corps will exist to check those motorists who place speed before safety.
