THEFT OF RING

MAN FOUND GUILTY. AUCKLAND, Saturday. Three charges of breaking and entering with associated charges of stealing a?.d of receiving stolen goods were preferred in the Supreme Court yesterday against George Albert Hedley Nixon, aged 35. Nixon was charged with stealing on January 9, 1929, a nine-stone cluster diamond ring valued at £22 10s from the bouse of Mrs I. Z. E. Tonar at Campbell’s Bay, with stealing goods valued at £6 10 on January 25, 1929, from the house of Frank Parkes in St. Stephen’s Avenue, and with stealing goods valued at £l3 on March 22, 1929, from . the house of Mrs L. E. Wiseman, at Takapuna. One of the witnesses was Mrs Irene Zoe Elizabeth Tonar, of Hamilton, who said she missed her engagement ring from her father’s bouse at Campbell’s Bay last -January. She identified the ring produced. After three hours the jury returned to say they found the prisoner guilty of receiving the diamond ring and the wristlet watch and not guilty on the other counts.

The prisoner was remanded for sentence on Monda>.
